The 2010 Party Leaders Meeting in Tanzania elected Dr. Kizza Besigye, the leader of Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), Uganda as the DUA Chairman.

Hon. Joseph K Munyao of DP (Kenya) and Rehabeam Katjijova of DTA (Namibia) as Vice Chairpersons whiles the immediate past DUA Chairman, Peter Mac Manu is now the Honorary Chairman. 

The Secretariat of DUA is in Ghana under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) following the election of Charles Owiredu as the Secretary General.
